The best prog album in the last year!

I wasn’t introduced to Threshold until For the Journey, so I’m late to the Threshold party. Some of my favorite bands are Seventh Wonder, Circus Maximus, Royal Hunt, and DT. Threshold has become my favorite band with the last albums. I was worried when I heard Damien Wilson was being replaced by Glynn Morgan, because I think Damien is a phenomenal singer. However, Glynn is just as great with a different singing style.

There is not a weak song anywhere on this album. The riffs, hooks, and melodies are so great and defined. One of the best things about Threshold is how great the lyrics are. Some prog lyrics can be a little bad and glossed over with all the attention paid to musicianship. Not only is the musicianship at the top of this genre, but the lyrics are thoughtful and meaningful as well. Kudos to Richard West and Karl Grooms for carrying the bulk of the songwriting here and also the great performances of Johanne James and Steve Anderson.

I have heard so much prog-metal over the years and this is, in my opinion, the best example of it. One of the best albums I’ve had the pleasure of listening to.
