Hacia el Fondo
In June 2018, Francisca Straube's band, Miss Garrison, announced they were taking an indefinite hiatus. But since the Chilean vocalist and drummer had already been putting out singles and EPs with her side project, Rubio, since 2014, she hits the ground running on her debut solo album. A mix of new music and some tunes from those EPs, this is essentially a showcase for Straube’s other side. Where Miss Garrison carved out a niche in Chilean rock, Rubio dives deep into synthesizers, pop melodies, ambient string textures, and adventurous percussion. Songs like “Seres Invisibles” are deeply personal and emotional, as Straube sings about losing herself, finding light in the dark, and taking refuge in love. “La Llamada” pushes her songwriting to another level—it's an experiment in trap production, voice overlays, and dark beats that’s entirely haunting.
