Arguably their best

I've been a big Queensryche fan for 25 years. They've definitely covered a wide spectrum of musical avenues. But I think this may be their best album. The production is outstanding, the lyrics great on every song, and the emotion always there. They were past the concept album at this point, but the raw talent is still there on this one, and not over-produced. If you liked Empire or Rage for Order, you will want this entire album--there isn't a bad song on it. Things definitely went down a notch after this one, although Hear in the Now Frontier wasn't bad.

The Best

The best Queensryche album. That’s right the best! Promised Land! This album never gets old.

Almost a last gasp!

"Operation MIndcrime" was like crack for anyone in the know. Then came "Empire," without a doubt their commercial breakthrough, but arguably a very low point with generic and stock choruses that were like everything else out at the time. Fans wouldn't always openly admit it, but QR had missed their mark for the first time, depite the hordes of new MTV fans. This album was heavy, progressive yet palatable. H.T.N.F. came next, and let's admit it, a total let-down. I will stick my neck out and promote "American Soldier" at this point. The next high water mark, albeit nothing up to the heights that O.M. & R.F.O.
