Good selection by under-appreciated country hitmakers

Great hooks and harmonies here. These Central Kentucky guys had some ten No. 1 Country songs and J.P. Pennington, Sonny Lemaire, Les Taylor (and for a brief time Mark Gray) had a hand in writing hits for others (Alabama, Janie Fricke), too. They were a popular regional pop band until the Mike Chapman-produced hit "Kiss You All Over" in the late Seventies. Unable to follow up that success -- they worked hard to polish a country sound that resided deep in Pennington's DNA. They worked out the country sound in a Lexington bowling alley before CBS signed them in 1983, a move that resurrected the band and gave the label some big hits.

They are a real good band when heard live. It's not as good since Les recently left, (he told me it was because he wanted to be a better Christian. ^_^) anywho, The original recording has Jimmy Stokley singing it and I don't much care for him singing. These are their songs and Take Me Down was covered by Alabama but Exile wrote it a while back.
