Discovered this from the Mandolin Cafe Mp3 podcast and was excited to learn of it, it being hard to find classical mandolin recordings. This one is stellar--the tone is perfect: crisp, punchy, rounded, and one realizes the connections between lute and mandolin which are sonically closer than lute and nylon string guitar (on which Dowland is so often performed these days). There's a lot more edge and texture to the music on mandolin and lute.
