Who Knew?

When I read the reviews of "Jersey Boys" on iTunes, I thought that every member of the chorus and the technical staff of the show must have written them. After catching a short excerpt on the Tony Awards show, I figured I'd go ahead and buy; $12 didn';t seem like much of an investment for a Tony winning show. But I was not prepared for how wonderful this recording is. Good grief---this album is as amazing as the reviews! The original cast recording (NOT soundtrack, incidentally; why can't iTune separate these?) is a gem. The sound is faithful to the period, and the actors seem to be channeling The Four Seasons. I would agree that there was no need for the gratuitous use of the F-bomb (twice) in the one track, but this is a minor quibble. If you remember when every new Four Seasons 45 was an event (heck, if you remember what a 45 is), you'll enjoy this recording!

Too good to be true

I absolutely love Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and this show made me fall in love with the music all over again. I was lucky enough to be on the second row the night I saw the show on Broadway and it was incredible. I felt like I was part of the show. John Lloyd Young, Christian Hoff, J. Robert Spencer and Daniel Reichard are all incredible performers and the nicest people you could hope to meet. While in New York I had the chance to see three other shows as well (Wicked, Sweeney Todd, and Rent) and they were amazing but Jersey Boys is something else. It really is "too good to be true!" I loved every moment of it; my face hurt at intermission because I'd been smiling so hard! See the show and you'll know what I mean but if you can't see the show, the soundtrack is a good start!

"Jersey Boys" is Awesome!

I saw this show on Broadway last week and haven't been able to stop singing the songs, so I just had to buy the album and I LOVE it! I knew a lot of the music, although I'm only 34 and didn't really grow up with it. I had never heard of the play, but it was recommended to me by several people when they found out I was taking a trip to New York and I'm so thankful they did. The actors were fabulous and John Lloyd Young has a terrific voice--what a range! I got my picture taken with each of the "Four" after the play and then went to the "Today" show the next day and heard them sing for Katie Couric's last day. My 3 & 5 year old kids like to sing and dance to the music too. I wish them the best of luck at the Tony's!
