Something for Neko fans, new and old.

This album clocks in at just under 33 minutes (roughly 20 of which are new material). On it, Case gives short, spoken introductions before each of 10 songs, four of which are recordings taken from earlier albums.

The other six are new, stripped-down, acoustic versions of songs from her three most recent studio releases, including 2009's Middle Cyclone.

This collection offers two experiences: New fans will get a broad overview of a rising star, finding here a well-rounded sampling from her already deep and varied catalog. Old fans, likely to have Case's earlier works, will be treated by the new tracks to a brief but intimate set, one that showcases Neko's powers, both as a singer and a lyricist.

Great, but....

There are some lovely performances here, but save yourself a few bucks by only buying the "iTunes Originals Version" tracks - the rest are old album cuts and 20-second interview bits.

WHY do they cut off the interview tracks?

First off I have to say Neko Case is one of my all time favorite artists....and I love the live paired down versions recorded for this album..BUT I am so irritated that the interview tracks are cut off mid sentence and we never really get to learn anything about the songs she is talking about. WHY??? 18 seconds is not an interview, it is a sound bite. VERY disappointed about this, I have all the songs already, I was interested in the interviews, it was the only reason I bought it. I wish I had notice the length of the interview tracks before purchase. Music = 5 stars, interviews= 1 star, therefore average = 3 stars.
