The Mellow Masterpiece

Howdy yo. So, this record is the mellow masterpiece and makes perfect sense after TNT and Standards. What would have been a holding pattern would have been to repeat TNT or Standards - which they by no means do. Instead they make, what is for me, one of their best and most atmospheric mellow records - and almost like it should be a club lounge record - club lounge art rock. Something about this record also reminds me of Miles' stuff from the early seventies - dot/eyes could have been a cut from 'on the corner'. that's meant to be a very big compliment.

This album divides critics more than fans. There is so much to love here; an entertaining listen through & through. McEnire's fairy-dust production is in full flourish, my favorite collection of his talents next to TNT. Personal side note: They played a double bill with Autechre where I live 10 years ago; I missed it and have never forgiven myself.
