EDITORS’ NOTES

While guitarist/banjo player Matt Munisteri, tuba player Marcus Rojas, and accordionist Will Holshouser each play an eclectic range of musical styles mostly as sidemen, here the New York City–based trio sound like they’ve spent their entire lives playing in smoky Parisian cafes. The first two players are perhaps more established (with Rojas having a surprisingly delicate touch), but it’s Holshouser who is most prominently featured on this set of classics and originals written in the tradition. Highlights include the waltzing “A Recurring Dream,” the swinging “Swing 39,” and the whimsical “Chanson Pop.”

Oh my, this is fun

Accordian, Guitar and Tuba, what’s not to like. Shades of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France and every french movie you have ever watched. Great ear candy.
