Into the Glorious

Into the Glorious

This ex-Watermark vocalist recalls the heartfelt innocence of early Jesus Music artists like Keith Green in these tracks, produced with clarity and restraint by her husband, Nathan. Cowriting with such notables as Chris Tomlin, Audrey Assad, and Delirious?’s Martin Smith, Nockels offers hosannas of praise that feel both conversational and timelessly poetic. Her warm alto vocals convey a quietly smoldering intensity in songs like “Wonderful," “Your Love Is Moving,” and the title track. Arrangement touches like the banjo and hand-claps on “Ever Lifting” and the choir vocals on “Love Can Build a Bridge” (a cover of The Judds’ 1990 country hit) keep the album sonically interesting. “Waiting Here for You” (a song previously heard on Passion’s Here for You) and “How I Love You” are reminders of Nockels’ gift at composing corporate worship songs. Nockels does it all with an unaffected honesty that speaks directly to listeners. Nockels may not be the flashiest of Christian artists, but Into the Glorious makes clear that she’s among the most convincing.
