Wonderful, mesmerising lines and shadows

The first three songs, like all of Marissa Nadler's art, are shaped simply and powerfully - a suggestive line here, a musical shadow there, a grumbling of bass way down deep. I think of Picasso's line drawings and later paintings - like his work, I feel she is using the simplest means to convey the deepest meanings. Or at least scrape away at them. I have fallen for all of Marissa Nadler's works just recently and have been going through her back catalogue after re-discovering "July". I have been playing all of the albums one after the other on repeat for the last month and still can't seem to get enough. Whatever song is playing is my favorite - each is so well formed.

I don't know what bewitchment this is, but I can't wait for the rest of "For My Crimes"!!!
