Inside Job

Inside Job

For his first solo album in 11 years, Don Henley has a lot on his mind. Half the album is fiery and topical, with the barbed, dramatic title song and bluesy "Workin' It" castigating corporate greed. Those songs revive the pounding drums and stabbing synthesizers of Henley's '80s albums, but elsewhere he relaxes and opens his heart. On the haunting acoustic ballad "For My Wedding" and the stark piano reverie "Annabel," he shows off his suave tenor and endearingly intimate, personal lyrics.
