Editors’ Notes When Julian Casablancas discovered “Regeneration”—a melodic, Manic Streets Preachers-infused call-to-arms–on a secretive music site, the Strokes front-man was so obsessed he released it on his label. The London four-piece build on that leg-up with a debut album that effectively blends their wide-ranging alt-rock tastes. “Baby’s Alright” turns up with Americana post-punk guitars and urgent choruses, “Treats” goes heavy on its spiky Pixies leanings, and “World on Fire” struts by in a deep, satisfying haze. “Stupid Things”, meanwhile, even has strains of Springsteen.
