These songs have been embedded in the hearts of many for years. I will always love you has made millions by Whitney Houston but no one can do it better than a Parton! If you haven't followed Stella Parton's career? This is your opportunity as this album is a great testament to Love. The soul that pours in these songs is a gift from God. It is a gift that will continue to bring music to our ears and love in our hearts. It has been a treasure to me! It is as original to its true being with a little soul added. I can go on and on but instead of me doing so, I ask that you listen to the album and feel it!

Mountain Songbird | Stella Parton

Beautiful album! Stella shines as a great vocalist with incredible range, a dynamic producer & superb songwriter! She presents Dolly's most brilliantly penned songs in a fresh yet familiar way, a testament to just how talented she is herself.

The title track, 'Mountain Songbird', co-written by Stella is a most heartfelt tribute to Dolly! The song gives listeners an understanding of the incredible bond the Parton family shares and the pain they have at times endured as a result of her overwhelming talent and ambition.

Highlights for me are 'Down from Dover', 'I Will Always Love You', 'The Flame' & 'Jolene'.

'Jolene' & 'Down from Dover' are both done very well and Stella brings a unique bluesy 'dark' quality to both tracks. Her voice glides effortlessly between a sweet vulnerable trill similar to Dolly's down to a deep smooth growl. Adding an extra layer of drama to two of Dolly's best story songs!

'The Flame' is a bonus track and one of Dolly's lesser known songs (cut as a duet with Porter Wagoner on their final album). It's a awesome song and Stella's voice lends itself very well to the upbeat pop/country production. Exceptional lyrics, catchy beat & smooth vocal - what more can you ask for? Another gem from Dolly's treasure chest of a publishing company.

'I will Always Love you' is such an iconic song. Nobody can out sing Whitney Houston or dream of competing with Dolly's classic original version - nor her duet with Vince Gill on the song.

Stella doesn't attempt either! Instead, she presents the song very simply, conveying all the emotion of Dolly's original with her own unique vocal style. The air of drama she creates is cut by beautifully layered harmonies reminiscent of the early days when she, Dolly & sister Cassie would sing together as young girls!

'More Power to Ya', the final track on the album, is a song Dolly & Stella wrote together. It's a fun anthem of empowerment & the two sing it as a duet on the album. The sisters belt the lyrics, 'Even tho they've tried to count you out - you've stood your ground & you have proved them wrong!' and 'Can you believe the courage that you've found?' reminding the listener of their fairy tale like rise to international success.

American music royalty, Dolly & Stella are a testament to the power of faith, hope, love & dreams. Which is why they, their family & their music resonate still today, nearly 50 years since they began their career(s).

They've both overcome enormous obstacles to achieve their dreams and endured their fair share of tragedy along the way. At 69 & 66 they both work (and sing) circles around peers 1/3 of their age. More Power to Ya ladies!
