“Will it be worth it?” Annika Rose sings as a gorgeous, fluttering piano melody blossoms into impassioned, rhythmic pop. “I come home at the end of the day and I write these songs, and I do this thing, and I feel like I’m missing out on so many other things in the outside world,” she tells Apple Music. “If I look back in a few years, is it going to be worth it? Am I even going to have people who are around me still if I'm just sabotaging the other good things in my life because of the one thing I have control over?” It’s typical of the teenager to be so searching and forthright in her lyrics. “That’s what songwriting is for,” she says. “It's just the most cathartic thing in the world, like a verbal diary entry every night. For ‘In the End,’ my mom was cooking pasta in the kitchen and I started playing this piano part and she goes, ‘Oh, I like that!’ And I was like, ‘Cool, let me think about what to say for this.’”
