Immersion explores ideas of spiritual refuge and emotional introspection with music that wraps the listener in a warm sonic blanket, including Valentin Hadjadj’s sumptuously scored “Flying” from the 2018 movie Girl and Uno Helmersson’s soaring “The Grandmaster Suite” from 2016 chess documentary Magnus. Elsewhere, music by Philip Glass, Ólafur Arnalds, Jonny Greenwood, plus Steve Reich’s cascading minimalist masterpiece “Duet,” crown this intensely beautiful album.
