Montreal’s Robert Robert has released a flurry of charming singles across a number of different labels, and his 2017 EP Welcome to Finetown shows off the producer’s knack for assembling bubbly electro-pop. Smeared keyboards meet crisp handclaps on the Vocoder-powered “Coolest Place in the Universe,” while “Misunderstood” pits Anna Majidson’s breathy vocals against a squiggling synth line that goes full disco by the song’s end. And despite the title, “Sad Anthem” finds raucous joy in its squawking sound effects.
