Editors’ Notes The first collaboration between rock legend Sir Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice resulted in the devil-may-care “Hakuna Matata” and the romantic “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” becoming Disney-borne classics. In the stage adaptation of The Lion King, John and Rice’s works are arranged to nod more explicitly to the musical’s African setting; South African composer Lebo M’s contributions, which include the triumphant “One by One” and a gently funky take on “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” further ground it in its milieu.
