It’s Still a Fun, Great Dance Song
Although I believe nothing beats the original, this isn’t so bad. There are obviously some serious Sam Smith haters posting reviews and I’m sorry to say most of them only capture the dislike of the artist and not necessarily a review of the track. The Communards remake (Jimmy Somerville) is better than this one. I agree this remake; however, misses the electrifying energy it should possess.
THEY has no passion whatsoever. He is absolutly lifeless with his delivery. Donna Summer's version was brilliant, epic, and changed music forever as Disco swept the World over. He totally stold Giorgio Moroder's music and is riding on the originals popularity. Sam Smith is nothing but a hack, with not one lick of originality in this cover. AWFUL is how this track can be described.
He sounds like Jimmy Somerville from Bronski Beat & The Communards, in which he also made a remake of I Feel Love. Undoubtedly though nobody is better then Donna Summer. We need to give Sam a thumbs up for stepping out of comfort zone. Which are always ballads.
