EDITORS’ NOTES

As one of the best-selling artists of all time, in any genre, George Strait could do pretty much anything he wants—which he did when he retired from touring in 2014. But you can't keep a good cowboy down for long, and Strait not only returned to the road but has hit one of the more prolific periods of his career, writing most of the tracks on his 29th studio LP. And though the King of Country might be well into his sixties, Honky Tonk Time Machine feels as fresh as ever—traditional without being a clichéd throwback, and a perfect display of one of country's most iconic voices. Strait burns up the barn on the title track, veers south of the border on "Codigo," and slips into balladry on "Some Nights." And proving that even legends have FOMO, Strait finally achieves his lifelong dream of singing with Willie Nelson on the album's well-titled closer "Sing One With Willie.”

There is only one king

In a genre of pop-py “country” music, if that is what you want to call it- George Strait, never waivers from tradition, artistry, talent, and the true sound of Country. Another fantastic album! Thank you, also, for recognizing and honoring those that hold the thin blue line and protect our communities behind the weight of the badge!!🖤💙🖤

Ty Mr. Strait for the song “The Weight Of The Badge” I’ve been a police officer for over 22 yrs...19 of them as a police chief. I also spent one year in Afghanistan training Afghan Police with our military. This song means a lot to all our police officers out there fighting to keep others safe. May God bless you and your family. 🚔💪🏽👮🏼‍♂️👍🏼😀
