awwww ye

This isnt about the singles. This review is about this whole album. Every track is perfectly thought out and produced - even the little diddies that cap some of the tracks like the old timey flange slow chorus of Waterslide at the end of Continue? The slow R&B may turn some off. Understandable. The prog was never what got me into Chon. I enjoy the jazziness and smooth watery vibe that made their Grow album seem so chilled out as well as quick and to-the-point. That kinda seems contadictory. But this album expands on both those "opposites". The drummerless coproduced tracks are way more relaxed than Chon has ever been, sometimes they seem in the background of the song, but I still think theyre fun jams. Then song like Continue, The Space, Wave Bounce, and No Signal (also not to mention the incredible singles Sleepy Tea and Waterslide) see Chon somehow making the smoothest grooves that still show off their technical prowess. Grow was basically a 10 track album. Homey is 12 tracks of what is, in my opinion, no filler. But even if you think the slow jams are filler, the remaining 8 are, as a whole, better than the 10 tracks of Grow. Again only my opinion. This is the sounds to my summer 2017. Thanks Chon. Also Eric Palmquist did an incredible production job. This record, especially the drums, sounds so much bigger than Grow. Buy it and support this talent or... they uploaded the whole thing on YouTube as of right now - 12:45 AM June 16 FOR FREE so go and listen then buy once you realize how great it is!

The Waiting Game
