This finely textured album bridges several of jazz guitarist Bill Frisell’s styles. The melodic beauty of tracks like “Probability Cloud” peg the album as one of his mature, idyllic works from the 21st century, but there are also traces of his late-’80s outings in New York’s puckish, post-punk avant-garde scene—check out the detuned electronic signals floating around in “Out of Body.” There are also rewarding embellishments of folk-influenced rock on songs like “Baba Drame.”
