Inspirational Music from one of the Best Documentaries of the Year!!

i had the wonderful opportunity to watch a preview of The Hip Hop Project and attend a Q & A with "Kazi" at the Magic Johnson Theater in the Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles last Saturday. The music on this soundtrack represents only the tip of the positive and energetic iceberg expressed by this wonderful cinematic project. In contrast to the negative commentary rap music has received as of late (Rutgers, Don Imus, racism/sexism, and all that), the documentary and its music testifies to the power and promise hip hop culture provides all youth in this country. An inspirational tale of struggle and triumph in contemporary American Society, The Hip Hop Project is a social document which speaks (and flows) to the social relevance and cultural importance of hip hop culture and rap music in the US and abroad; it is at once a must see and a must hear.
