Editors’ Notes The piano man holds nothing back on an ambitious second outing. With a notably brighter sound, the much-fancied Brit seeks to transfuse his keyboard indie from moody music halls to giddy arenas. Although the earnest tinkling remains (the mournful “Jealousy” and exultant “Somehow”), “Magnetised” has a soaring EDM-imbued chorus, “Concrete” taps into Odell’s showmanship and “Daddy” hits harder rock notes. He’s successfully switched sides.
