Magical Album

Let me disagree and also agree with Evan7. The Innocence Mission is a special band that has created some of the most emotionally powerful music I've ever heard. Their output pre-2000 (the best was their debut album and "Glow") was largely folk rock while their output since 2000 (see this new album) has been much more mellow and "NPR-like". Although I would love to see the band combine both the mellow and the rock elements on an album (see their album "Birds of My Neighborhood", their music is always magical and intensely spiritual. The new album "Hello I Feel The Same" is no exception: a brilliant album of beauty and allure.

Exceptional Album Among Exceptional Albums

HIFTS ranks up there with Birds of My Neighborhood and Glow, two other Innocence Mission albums that you should listen to. Outstanding craftsmanship is on display in every track. Listen on headphones, every guitar, drum, lyric and vocal is purposeful and the production is, as usual, excellent.

Fully in Their Flow

The Innocence Mission arrived at their signature sound during the recording of Birds of My Neighborhood back in 1999. Since that time Karen and Don Peris have made The Innocence Mission an indie/DIY affair with Karen providing vocals and graphics, Don providing his unmistakable guitars — and as always stand out lyrics evoking light and hope, simple and pure. Artist’s that start with a big sound as The Innocence Mission did so many years ago on their self titled debut, show their evolution by taking things away and getting to what is essential. Once they have arrived there, there is no going back. The Innocence Mission have found peace and clarity in their family life, what they always dreamed of if you listen to the lyrics of their early recordings, and I think they will continue to set their poetry to similar arrangements for the remainder of their music careers as they aren’t seeking to reinvent a sound so positive and clear. The title in fact gives it all away Hello I Feel the Same……so why should anything change? Each CD they put out comes across as an act of simple devotion.
