Editors’ Notes A totally winning recording of Haydn’s two cello concertos sits alongside a charmer by C.P.E. Bach and some miniatures in stylish arrangements by Isserlis himself. Cellist and orchestra have gauged these 18th-century delights to perfection. Isserlis’s bow dances on the strings and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen match his good taste and flair ideally—and the soloist’s own cadenzas are models of imagination. The recording, too, adds to the magic with an appealing halo of ambience around the instruments.
