Hauntingly wonderful

Great soundtrack as you have a blend of Celtic mourning along with the haunting sounds of bluegrass mixed in.

This is a fantastic collection of mostly instrumental music. It draws inspiration from bluegrass, Celtic and even classical sources. Many songs on this collection cause a chill to run through me, especially the haunting violins. I'd certainly recommend this soundtrack!

I fell in love with this music as soon as I heard it play in the movie. Its sound captures the feel of the era, from the war-weary souls of the Civil War, to evoking visions of the rugged terrain of the West Virginia/Kentucky border. Not since the soundtrack for "Gettysburg" have I heard a composer catch the essence of the story in music so well. I agree with another reviewer, the violins are chilling, combined with the vocals, it is as haunting and mournful as the feud itself.
