EDITORS’ NOTES

A 20-year-old working in a hardware store while recording this debut EP of spacey R&B, Kiiara has been scoring hot-and-heavy blog posts since calling-card single “Gold” emerged in June 2015. The hype was justified: “Gold” is at once spare and frenetic, its crisp beat serene while Kiiara’s chopped-up vocals create a jagged melody. Elsewhere, “Feels” is a pirouetting slice of dream-pop, the fevered “Tennessee” takes things to the club, while “Hang up tha Phone”’s coiled after-hours electronica hits the emotional bull's eye.

Repeat Repeat Repeat

Did I just hear someone who said I missed you in the basement, but your brother was a nice substitute? I didn't care enough to look up the same 3 lines of lyrics that were used in repetition for that entire song, well, besides the part of the song that sounded like someone was having a stroke. Yikes. Just plain torture.
