From the Bush
On Go Bush! the Warumpi Band—perhaps the greatest rock band ever fronted by a didgeridoo player—make rough, punkish rock informed by their aboriginal heritage. The Clash-like rocker "From the Bush" deals with the struggle for land rights, while the gentle ballad "This Island Home" is an anthem of Australian pride. Though the LP is largely guitar-based, with rousing vocals by the late George Burarrwanga, the band uses more regional sounds on the funky "Digeridoo Blues."
