The first of two EPs released as My Bloody Valentine burrowed deeper into the three-year recording period for Loveless, Glider previewed the heady glories to come. Disorienting yet propulsive, the four songs balance softer energies with the aggressive instincts that mark “Soon.” Though its opener became a template for the dance-rock mergers of the Madchester era, the gliding, grinding guitar sound is just as mesmerizing when applied to the ghostly psych-folk of “Off Your Face” and the almost formless title track.
