Gill Landry is best known as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for Old Crow Medicine Show, but he’s also pursued a solo career that’s clearly peaking on his self-titled third solo album. Laura Marling joins in for “Take This Body,” one of several album highlights. But the focus here is on Landry’s own convincing vocals and the warm, modest, and intimate production, which largely took place at home in his Nashville apartment. The result feels less like a recreation than a living, breathing work dominated by acoustic guitar and organ. “Funeral in My Heart,” “Just Like You,” and “Long Road” are songs that linger long past their moment.
