Nico Muhly’s "Drones, Variations, Ornaments" never stands still, transforming at every turn to reveal captivating new sounds. Valgeir Sigurðsson’s title-track couldn’t be more different—a living, breathing organism of a piece that has a sense of mystery all of its own. And Donnacha Dennehy’s "An Ad Nos" is exquisitely detailed and pulsatingly alive. Each piece is performed with staggering accomplishment by Irish ensemble Crash.
