Came By For A Listen, Bought The Album

I think that in many ways I've outgrown a good deal of pop and electronic music. With that said, this album grabbed me from Filthy Mind and didn't let me go until the last note of Numb. Are there better examples of pop and elecronic music out there? Sure. I just don't find myself going back to those albums as much as I do Ghost Stories. Amanda Ghost has a voice suited for more than a commercial pop album and I sincerely hope she explores that talent. If I had to pick a favorite from this album it would be a difficult choice. I find myself stuck on Glory Girl some days, while other days I can't listen to Filthy Mind, The Wrong Man, or Silver Lining enough. With most music today having a shelf life of a few weeks, I think it's a true testament to Ms. Ghost's talent that I can come back to this album a year later and it all still feels fresh and listenable.

Something New, Exciting and Wonderful

Amanda Ghost has the most haunting sound I have heard in years. If you aren't hooked within the first few seconds of any cut on this album, you deserve contemporary popular music in all its mediocrity! She has just the right mix of interesting, catchy hooks with electronica, orchestral and just about anything else you could ask for. It's an odd collection of instrumentation and sound - but it works! What I find particularly amazing about this artist and this album is how fantastic it is to listen to the tracks over and over againl. They never get stale; never get boring and you'll always find something new with each listen. I highly recommend this album to anyone who wants something new that will play in your head long after you've turned off the CD player (or computer or iPod).

a little disappointed

I saw Amanda Ghost on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She was fantastic. At that time she had no CDs available. Now that her CD is out, it has nothing of the raw edge she had on the Kimmel show. Most of the songs on this CD sound very similar. If you're looking for background music, then this might be ok for you, otherwise, it's pretty average. I think she's far more interesting and dynamic than the work on this CD project indicates, at least I hope so. She's a great talent, and I hope her next project will show more of her range.
