Great Movie

The soundtrack highlights the intensity of the film from start to finish. The movie was fantastic, despite any negative reviews. Go see the movie to appreciate how well the music blends with every scene. It’s definitely worth it.

This is a Hans Zimmer score through and through, so if you're already a fan of his work, you'll love this album. I loved this film, but I know I'm in the minority there, so honestly if you're a fan of Zimmer, film scores, or orchestra work I still urge you to try this album out; it's amazing. It captures the intensity and the quick pacing of the film, constantly making you feel like you're building up to the finale of "Insertion", which is glorious. "Coda", the epilogue, if you will, builds on the delicate piano theme dedicated to Jean Grey throughout and is just beautiful. In fact, the true strength of this score is that Zimmer was intelligent enough to establish major themes for major players, and you immediately know them when you hear them. The X-Men have a heroic theme that blooms to fruition in "Reckless"; Magneto's dark theme captures the character perfectly in "Intimate", and Jean Grey's piano theme blooms across all tracks. The real standout is, appropriately, the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix theme that begins in "Gap" and reappears in "Dark", "Frameshift", "Deletion", and "Insertion". Complete with cosmic, otherworldly themes, majestic choral work blending with a mournful soloist...it's amazing and the perfect theme for such an iconic cosmic creature. Beautiful listening experience!
