EDITORS’ NOTES

Loretta Lynn’s work grows richer and more powerful with age. Six decades and fiftysomething albums into her career comes the lucid, rootsy Full Circle, her first since 2004’s Jack White–produced Van Lear Rose. Opening with a new gloss on Lynn’s very first song (“Whispering Sea”) and walking back through highlights of her career (“My Secret Love”) with detours through bluegrass and folk standards (“Black Jack David,” “In the Pines”), the most remarkable thing about Full Circle isn’t how long Lynn has been singing but how vibrant she still sounds.

Pure Classic Loretta Lynn

I began listening to Loretta Lynn when I was a kid because my Dad loved country music. I fell in love with her music in 1980 when I saw the movie Coal Miner’s Daughter. This song (Every Thing It Takes) is pure Loretta Lynn. It is slower but still has the strength and sass one expects in a Loretta lyric, the harmonies provided by Elvis Costello are supportive and warm. Loretta sounds great! I look forward to the full album…. Hey Loretta! Full Circle? Let’s go around again!

Still the Queen!

I just downloaded this album after watching Loretta on PBS's "American Masters" last night. I fell in love with her after seeing "Coal Miner's Daughter" 36 years ago. I started to listen to her music then. I then discovered what a gifted artist and storyteller she is! "Full Circle" only makes me love her more, if that's even possible!! Every song is a gem, sung as only Loretta Lynn can! Thank you for sharing your remarkable life with us through your music, Loretta! You are a blessing! In answer to the question you ask in your song, "Who's Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone?"--More people than you could possibly know!!
