Ah, there it is!

There it is! I am not much for nostalgia but there was a pocket of time in the mid-90s that introduced some wonderful singer/songwriters. Heidi Berry, Nan Vernon, Mae Moore, Eddi Reader, Beth Orton and the desperately-missed Kirsty MacColl might have benefitted from the popularity of Sarah MacLachlan, but they were all solid, fully-formed talents blessed with enchanting voices and brilliant songwriting. They enjoyed respect from their peers and critical praise but wide fame eluded most of them. Miss O'Donovan evokes that great group, especially the wonderful Heidi Berry. Bless her (and Laura Marling) for adding to a canon of truly timeless music.

What a pleasure it is to listen to this album. Aoife's voice is captivating, and the songs are wonderful. A new classic and favorite.

A beautiful album

I was unfamiliar with Aoife O'Donovan's work and was introduced to this album by a friend. My tastes run to classical music and I rarely listen to anything else. This album is sublime and sophisticated. I recognize new language, which merges subtle lyrics with beautiful music. I am very glad to own this recording and cannot wait for O'Donovan's next effort.
