Rich Homie Quan’s Forever Goin In should never have been released. Rather, the 2024 album that was compiled shortly after his death should exist in an entirely different context than the tragic one in which it currently resides. Throughout the project, his inherent knack for melody, defiant resistance to giving up, and positive outlook on life make his valuable perspective forever missed. Take the project’s opener, “Intro,” on which the Atlanta mainstay speaks over mournful piano notes and a choir-like vocal sample. Quan recites: “I ain’t lettin’ nobody stop me, though. Feel me? I let nobody deteriorate my mind. I knew I was great before they knew I was.” Those words hit particularly hard after Rich Homie Quan has left this Earth, but his message remains as clear as always: Never stop going in.
