Finding the Sacred Heart: Live In Philly 1986

Dio enjoyed spotlighting songs from his vast career, and this particularly energetic live performance from the mid-’80s is no different. Sacred Heart is littered with melodic, upbeat hard rock like “Hungry for Heaven,” and the band crank out a monolithic rendition of Sabbath’s sinister “Heaven and Hell” anchored by drummer Vinny Appice’s bottom-heavy bashing. They also play a 10-minute medley with a version of Rainbow’s “Man on the Silver Mountain” that explodes with fantasy synths and Vivian Campbell’s venom-spitting fretwork.
