Majestic and Splendor, Captured by an Orchestra

This original score by Alan Silvestri changed the way we perceived Sci-Fi and what music we come to expect from it. With it's daring brass, suspenseful piano arrangements, and heavenly choir, this is a soundtrack for the ages that everyone should have in their library. From the intense "Sub Battle" to the now legendary "Bud on the Ledge", a masterpiece through and through and stands among the best original scores ever written. A must own, download it now!

One of the best Sci-Fi soundtracks!

This is some of Alan Silvestri’s best work. Silvestri masters the art of matching soundscapes and music to the subject matter. The different movements, musical themes and sound design on this masterpiece are some of the best in the sci-fi genre in my opinion. This soundtrack runs the gamut from haunting and eerily mysterious quite moments to wonderment to suspenseful action to final culmination into bombastic epic fanfare. Silvestri is one of the most unique and iconic composers in the industry and his work in the sci-fi realm is equal in scope to other masters like John Williams. From his iconic work in Predator, to Back to the Future, Silvestri’s "The Abyss" soundtrack ranks up alongside them, though for obvious reasons not as recognizable as Back to the Future given the nature of that franchise’s appeal. If you love sci-fi soundtracks, “The Abyss" should be part of your listening repertoire.
