Love the anger...

...I just can't believe MacKaye managed to get THAT apoplectic over cigarette smoking...lol.

Once punk rock became synonymous with drugs and nihilism and green mohawks, Straight Edge was a logical step - the most "punk" thing you could do was rebel against the rebels, who'd turned into just another homogenized clutch of conformists. (You just change for the same!) Kind of brilliant really, and the bombast and rage of MT tracks is as hardcore as anything in punk. Still, I can't help but laugh a little when I reflect that it's basically in service of, like, Mormonism. Thematically I prefer Black Flag's sociopathy and depression to Minor Threat's insightful preachiness…but MacKaye still makes you respect it. Classic, seminal, essential punk rock record, like you need me to tell you.

Unbridled Fury

Pure hardcore anger. The bass lines on seeing red and bottled violence are awesomeness. Buy it now if you like punk in general.
