12 Songs, 40 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

A whirlwind of empathy, optimism, and big-voiced dynamism, Rachel Platten is the kind of singer you want to have in your corner. From the tender pledge of allegiance “Stand by You” to the punchy self-empowerment anthem “Lone Ranger” to the march-time rallying cry of “Fight Song,” Wildfire is brimming with songs that bolster and embolden. Platten’s vocals are sweet and her melodies are Velcro-catchy, but the crystalline synths and jaunty piano chords belie an endearing toughness.

AMAZING

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It is soooo refreshing to hear unique music that is AWESOME!!! Her style and sound is so great, it is awesome to listen to. It isn’t like the repetitive, bland songs whose lyrics have no meaning; these songs are fantastic. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!! I am sooooo excited to hear more of Rachel Platten!!!

Much deeper then meets the eye

She's not reinventing the mold as some of the neg reviews point out. But what I think they missed is how seemingly easy Rachel writes lyrics that speak to a much deeper human experience. It's not all about hitting the club and hooking up. Unlike many other Artists she writes her own stuff. So if she shares vulnerability its from her, not an artist singing words that they don't truly understand. You can hear that depth in the quality of Rachel's voice and I think that's why she stands out. She is authentic. In our culture, I hope we see more of that. Bravo Rachel!
