Editors’ NotesFamily Man marked a return from hard rock back to country for Waylon Jennings' youngest son. But this isn't country music as you'd hear it anywhere else; the LP includes folky throwbacks, Southern rock barn burners, and poetic lyrics filled with left turns. "Manifesto No. 4" opens with old-time a cappella harmonies before bursting forth with strutting organ and fuzzy guitars. "The Long Road Ahead," meanwhile, is a melancholy strummer that recalls late Springsteen, complete with a dissonant solo from part-time E Street member Tom Morello.
