15 Songs, 1 Hour 2 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Eucalyptus is less a follow-up to Avey’s madcap 2014 outing, Enter the Slasher House, than a companion to Meeting of the Waters, the meditative 2017 EP from his main outfit, Animal Collective. A re-recording of Waters’ “Selection of a Place” reinforces the connection, updating the original’s field-recording ambience with swirling, multitracked harmonies. The rest of Eucalyptus overflows with wondrous sounds without sacrificing intimacy, be it the pedal-steeled hosanna “Ms. Secret” or the joyously juddering “Jackson 5.”
