With all due respect to masterful singer Rogelio Martínez, the lead voice on Enamorándote is undeniably accordionist Juanito Fabela. The mighty El Torito pulls you into each song immediately with his cavalier mastery of melody (“Cuando Estoy Junto a Ti”). Paired with unstoppable drummer Edgar Muñoz, he can stomp to the beat of classic norteño, but he’s also wildly inventive when it comes to rhythm (“Te Equivocaste”). And even when La Reunión Norteña dip into sorrow, Fabela lifts everyone’s spirits with another blast of joy (“Arrepentida”).
