Soulstance's First Album

Soulstance have been around for quite a while. They consist of the Lo Greco brothers, and both of them have done loads of work on their Italian label (Ishtar/Schema), which also consists of Nicola Conte, Gerardo Frisina, Rosalia De Souza, The Invisible Session and many more. This is their first album and it's quite different from the more polished jazzed up music they've been producing and releasing over the past few years. Heavy with flutes and some great, subtle effects, "En Route" has a couple of very cool atmospheric gems on it. "Circle" may have been the song that got the most play, along with "Truth, Simplicty & Love". But the real highlight to me was the breathtaking "Life Time". Amazing flute and even harp in this one gives it a truly angelic and light feel. I also liked "We Go Our's Own Way", "Ritual", "Check Into Your Record Bag" and "Touchstone".

All in all, it's a fantastic album and I wasn't disappointed. En Route's follow-up to this one was "Act On!", which had some real gems on it too (Mutantes, Riding the Mambo, Kickin' Samba, etc.), and then they had "Life Size" and the most recent "Lead the Way'. They also have a a Quintet group and some other projects too and again they've worked with other artests on the Italian label too.
