Hundred More Years

Hundred More Years

Hundred More Years reflects singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli's new status as a wife and mother as well as an award-winning Christian artist. Battistelli’s latest songs display a matured perspective that lends depth to her effervescent pop/rock sound. The breezy, sharply observed “This Is the Stuff” finds lessons in patience among the hassles of everyday life. Battistelli advises checking out of the fast lane in “Don’t Miss It” and speaks of self-forgiveness in “You Never Are.” “Emily (It’s Love),” a duet with Dave Barnes set to a buoyant beat, bolsters a friend’s flagging spirits with a message of hope. More explicitly faith-centered are the ‘80s rock-tinged “Constant” and the propulsively poppy “Motion of Mercy.” The title tune seems to reflect on the joys in Francesca’s own life with gratitude and a slightly wistful air. Hundred More Years emphasizes the positive, yet avoids saccharine clichés by grounding its lyric scenarios in ordinary doubts and frustrations.
