Rob Zombie’s D-grade horror-movie universe gets deeper, richer, and weirder with each album. Made between movie shoots, Warlock mixes violent, glammy metal with queasy synths, bits of movie dialogue, and Zombie’s inimitable—if unintelligible—bark for a sound as slick as oil and corrosive as acid. Only one of the tracks here even clears three minutes, making the songs feel more like surrealistic vignettes in a long, bad trip. As always, Zombie’s priorities are clear: sex, drugs, and monsters, together if possible, as on the highlights “Well, Everybody’s F***ing in a U.F.O.” and “In the Age of the Consecrated Vampire, We All Get High.”
