A couple of the songs on here--"U Got It," "Sweet Cheater" and "You Think You're Tough" are earlier versions of the killer tracks on the great 1983 Ratt EP, initially released on Time Coast, and then rereleased (and poorly remastered) by Atlantic after the success of Out of the Cellar. Doubtful that iTunes will ever sell Ratt's underappreciated first EP, so...these versions will have to do. And they are good--they come very close to the raw riffage and abrasive sound which made the EP so spontaneous.
The most troubling--if that's the word for it--part of Mickey Ratt is the realization that ALL of Ratt's material, at least pre-1986, was written and arranged long before the band's successful run from 1983-1986, when they released their very good first LPs.
This huge backlog of material would explain why the band's sound changed, pretty much for the worse, in the "Way Cool Jr." era --when they ran out of material to exhume.

fun - but im confused?

fun record. but how can they say this is from the mickey ratt days when several of these songs are from ratt's newer records? i guess maybe they had these songs written years prior and just in the can?.?.?.? - maybe, but doubtful... this with the "remastering" make this a fun effort. but to me it's legitimacy as an "early-days" collection seems a bit fishy...

This Album Rocks!!

If you call yourself a Ratt fan, give this one a chance because it rocks. It is not as slickly produced as their 80's albums, but that's what makes it so great!! Its more raw and to the gut. It's good to hear the oldies too; You Think You're Tough, Sweet Cheater and Back For More. This one has all the good ones!!
