Ratings and Reviews
Superb!
Incredible album full of fabulous New Orleans classics, but totally revamped and fresh. The Orchestra sounds incredible, Mayfield plays his horn off and Bridgewater is utterly spectacular. Loving the Dr. John song and completely blown away by Congo Square. Throw in "One Fine Thing" and it's off the charts!
Bourbon-soaked bliss
Dee Dee Bridgewater is one of the most-gifted vocalists out there, and this salute to the legacy of New Orleans, featuring Irving Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra is like taking a stroll through the streets of Treme. Dee Dee is in fine form, the band is lush and plush. What's not to like?
Amazing, but with one disappointment
"House of the Rising Sun" was supposed to be on this album, at least my local jazz station said so. Hugely disappointing omission from a brilliant album.
