10 Songs, 42 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Bruce Springsteen’s fourth album finds the rock ’n’ roll poet of the working class wrestling with themes involving troubled souls in troubled times. Songs are filled with dead-end factories, dark bars, and lost horizons—lyrical devices that reinforce Springsteen’s idea that salvation is found only through love. Surging opener “Badlands” and the dramatic “The Promised Land” offer hope as a vaccination against sadness and struggles, while the percolating title track—and poignant ballads “Racing in the Street” and “Factory”—subtly remind us that we were all just born to run.

My Favorite Album OF ALL TIME! :)

This album has saved my life so many times. This music is balm for the soul . . . if you are feeling pushed aside, disenfranchised, and broken "Darkness on the Edge of Town" will let you know you're not alone. Thank you Bruce.

1st Boss album

My introduction to Springsteen was in a bookstore in 8th grade. This was on sale for $5 so I thought why not. I won't forget the times I spent listening to this album.

Darkness is his finest hour

This by far is the greatest album of all time. When you are down and it feels like everyone is against you put this on your Ipod full blast and go for a long walk. The journey that this album takes you culminating with being on that hill with everything you got will make you feel like you can conquer the world. Thanks Boss this album got me through the problems associated with adolescence and young adulthood. Truly inspiring!
